Kalyaninagar, 19th February 2025: Concerned residents from Kalyaninagar, Baner, Pashan, Vimannagar, and nearby areas gathered at the office of the Additional Commissioner of Police on Tuesday to discuss disruptions caused by pubs, bars, and commercial establishments. The meeting, organized by Team Swachh Kalyani Nagar, aimed to highlight concerns related to noise pollution, illegal operations, and public safety.

Rajya Sabha MP Medha Kulkarni led the discussions, alongside officials from multiple departments, including the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the civic building permission and encroachment divisions, the excise department, and the fire department.

Locals voiced their grievances about the growing number of bars and pubs operating without proper permits. Monica Sharma, a resident of Kalyaninagar, shared her concerns, stating, “We have repeatedly filed complaints about noise pollution and unauthorized commercial activities, which are making life difficult for senior citizens, students, and families. We urged authorities to take strict action against illegal rooftop bars, unapproved land use changes, and businesses operating without clearances.”

Residents also raised alarm over issues such as open alcohol consumption near schools and temples, incidents of harassment, drunk driving, and illegal encroachments in public spaces.

Aditya Patil, another resident from Kalyaninagar, emphasized the need for regulatory action. “Housing societies from Kalyaninagar and Vimannagar have submitted formal documents detailing how these establishments are affecting the quality of life. Authorities must ensure that residential areas remain peaceful,” he said.

Addressing the concerns, MP Medha Kulkarni assured residents that necessary actions would be taken to curb unauthorized commercial activities. “We have carefully listened to every issue raised by the community. There will be a thorough review of the licenses issued to such establishments, and steps will be taken to restore order and safety in residential areas,” she stated.
