Pune: Bride Booked By Police For Reaching Wedding Hall On Bonnet Of Vehicle

Loni Kalbhor, 13th July 2021: It was a day that 23-year-old Shubhangi Shantaram Jarande of Bhosari wanted to make memorable. For her wedding, she reached the marriage hall on the bonnet of a Scorpio SUV. But in order to make it memorable, she put her life in danger as well as violated Coronavirus disease (COVID19) prevention rules.

Now based on a complaint from Head Constable SL Nevse, an FIR has been registered at Loni Kalbhor police station under Pune city police. Police have booked Shubhangi, Ganesh Shyamrao Lawande (38) of Bhosari, Tukaram Saudagar Shedge (23) of Walhekarwadi, Akurdi and other people who were travelling in the vehicle.

According to police, the incident took place around 10.30 am today in the Dive Ghat area. The ceremony was held at Siddheshwar Marriage Hall near Saswad. Shubhangi was sitting on the bonnet while Lawande was driving the vehicle. Shedge was sitting on a bike doing her video shooting while going to the marriage hall.

After the video went viral on social media, police swung into action.

“We have booked the accused persons for offences under sections 269 (negligent act likely to spread the infection of any disease), 188 (disobedience of law duly promulgated by public servant), 279 (rash driving or riding), 107 (abetment), 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and relevant sections of the Disaster Management Act, Maharashtra COVID Rules 2020 and Motor Vehicles Act”, said Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Mokashi, in-charge of Loni Kalbhor police station.

Nobody has been arrested yet. However, cops said that action will be taken soon.
