Tamhini, 24 July 2021: As the bridge road leading to Konkan collapsed, it caused traffic jam. Therefore, the administration has appealed to avoid going through Tamhini ghat to Konkan or coming to Pune from Konkan.

The incident was shocking as the highway was being widened and new work was underway. After the matter came to the notice of villager Bhalchandra Dhumal he informed the villagers the administration, so the potential danger has been averted.

The old bridge at Gonwadi village near the Mulshi dam has collapsed. This road has now become dangerous due to the displacement of rocks at the foot of the road. Due to this, the administration has to stop the traffic.

Mulshi Tehsildar Abhay Chavan, Police Inspector Ashok Dhumal, Pune District NCP Vice President Balasaheb Sanas, Congress’ Madhur Dabhade, local villagers and administrative officials inspected the bridge.

Tehsildar Chavan said that due to heavy rains in Mulshi taluka for the last three days, a stone bridge on the Pune-Kolad National Highway in the Gonwadi area of Mulshi could collapse due to the continuous flow of water at any time. For the next 48 hours, both sides are being closed from Mangaon and Chandni Chowk. The road will be available for light vehicles under police control. The Mulshi administration is appealing to tourists and citizens not to travel on this highway for the next two days.
