Pune: Builder Booked For Electricity Theft Worth Rs 98 Lakh

Pune, 4th July 2022: The flying squad of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has detected a power theft in Ravet where a builder modified the electricity meter with the help of remote control. As per preliminary enquiry, 2 lakh 4 thousand 292 units of electricity worth Rs 98 lakh were used.

A case has been registered against the builder at Ravet police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police.

According to MSEDCL, the incident took place in the last 18 months at the site of Ravi Khiluman Ochani. The power theft was done for the construction of the building by modifying the electricity meter with the help of remote control. A case under sections 135, 136, 137 and 138 of the Indian Electricity Act 2003 was registered against Ochani.

Anil Kurade, Deputy Executive Engineer, Flying Squad, Shubhangi Patange, Assistant Security and Enforcement Officer, and his colleagues under the guidance of Shivaji Indalkar, Deputy Director, Security and Implementation, carried out the operation.
