Wanowrie, 3rd March 2025: A Pune-based builder has filed a police complaint against a man for allegedly spreading false information about a construction project and attempting to extort Rs 50 lakh from him. A case has been registered at the Wanowrie Police Station.

The 67-year-old builder filed the complaint against Sachin Somnath Jambhulkar, 46, from Wanowrie. The incident reportedly occurred between June and October 2024.

According to the police, the builder owns ancestral land in Wanowrie where a development project is underway with Pune Municipal Corporation’s approval. Since June 2024, Jambhulkar has allegedly been spreading misinformation about the property, discouraging potential buyers from purchasing flats in the project. He reportedly used flex banners to create confusion about the land ownership, causing financial losses to the complainant.

The accused also allegedly forged an order from the Khadakwasla Executive Engineer of the Irrigation Department, falsely claiming permission for afforestation on adjacent land. Using this fabricated document, Jambhulkar attempted to claim rights to the property.

Furthermore, the complaint states that Jambhulkar demanded Rs 50 lakh from the developer to allow the construction to proceed, threatening to obstruct the project if the money was not paid.

Senior Police Inspector Satyjit Adame is leading the investigation into this case of alleged extortion and spreading of false information in the real estate sector.
