Pune: Builder Threatened With Nude Photos Circulation, Accused Demands Bitcoins Worth Rs 8 Crore

Shivajinagar, 4th December 2022: Pune city police has booked an unknown person for allegedly demanding 60 Bitcoins, worth Rs 8.3 crores, in exchange for not making private photos of a 67-year-old businessman viral on social media. The accused had sent emails in this regard.

 

Based on a complaint from a 27-year-old employee of the businessman who is chairman of a reputed real estate company, Shivajinagar police station registered an FIR last night against the sender of the email.

 

According to police, the builder has an office on University Road in Shivajinagar. On November 29, emails were received and they were checked by his manager who informed the businessman. He initially asked her to ignore believing it to be a prank. However, similar emails were again received and the sender threatened tag his employees and make his nude photos viral on social media.

 

The email sender demanded 60 Bitcoins deposited in wallet of the crypto currency.

In later emails, the sender demanded immediate payment of five Bitcoins and had given deadline of 9 pm on December 1. After that, the concerned builder (chairman) immediately rushed to the cyber police station. After filing a complaint in this regard at the Cyber Police Station, the case has been transferred to the Shivajinagar Police Station for investigation.

 

“The unknown sender of the emails demanded Bitcoins for not making private photos of a builder viral on social media. The case was registered by the cyber police station and transferred to us for further investigation”, said Senior Police Inspector

Arvind Mane, in-charge of Shivajinagar Police Station.

 

Police Inspector (Crime) Vikram Goud is further investigating the case.
