Pune: Absconding Builder Vishal Agarwal Arrested After Son’s Deadly Porsche Crash

Pune, 21st May 2024: The Pune police have arrested Vishal Agarwal, a prominent Pune-based builder, after a fatal accident involving his minor son who was driving a Porsche that struck and killed two IT engineers in the Kalyani Nagar area. Vishal Agarwal, owner of Bramha Realty and Infrastructure, had been absconding since the case was registered against him, prompting the Pune Police to form multiple teams to locate him.

Early on Tuesday, a team from the Pune Police’s crime branch nabbed Agarwal in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. He is expected to be brought to Pune by the afternoon and will be presented in court thereafter.

The accident, which involved the minor boy, driving a Porsche, sparked widespread outrage in Pune. Following the incident, the police registered a case against Vishal Agarwal. He was charged under Sections 3, 5, and 199 of the Motor Vehicle Act for allowing his underage son to drive. Additionally, he was booked under Sections 75 and 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act for permitting his son to attend a party and consume alcohol.

The incident has provoked significant public anger across the state, with many questioning the efficacy of the law. In response, the Pune Police have taken stringent actions, including filing charges against the hotel and bar owners who served alcohol to the minor. Cases have been registered against Prahlad Bhutda, owner of Hotel Cosie, and its manager Sachin Katkar, as well as Sandeep Sangle of the Blak Club at Marriott Suites, and bar counter manager Jayesh Bonkar.

This high-profile case has garnered considerable attention, and the public is closely watching the developments as the judicial process unfolds.
