Pune: Building Dept Recommends Extension Of Deadline For Applications To Regularise Gunthewari Construction
Pune 23rd August 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation is likely to extend the deadline to submit applications to regularise the construction on gunthewari land. A proposal in this regard has been submitted by the build department to the municipal commissioner’s office.
The decision to move the proposal has been taken after the civic body received poor response to the initiative. A total of 856 applications were received, of which only 21 were approved while 547 were rejected and a total of 289 are still awaiting approval. According to officials, lengthy process of submitting multiple documents is said to be the primary reason for poor response.
According to reports, there are around 70,000 construction on small portion of land that will benefit from this scheme. The PMC has stated the process to start the regularisation of gunthewari construction in 2021 and the deadlin to submit the application was July 31, 2023. According to reports, the building department has now sought permission to extend the deadline till December 31 this year. However, a final decision will only be taken after Pune Municipal Commissioner’s permission to this proposal.
