Pune: Businessman Nana Gaikwad Attacked In Yerwada Central Jail By Fellow Prisoner
Yerwada, 3rd February 2023: Businessman Nana Gaikwad, who is lodged in the Yerwada central jail for offences under the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), was today attacked by a fellow prisoner.
The incident took place around 11.45 am.
The name of the accused Suresh Baliram Dayalu. Prison constable Subhash Mansingh Darekar has filed a complaint with Yerawada police station against him.
According to the police, the prisoners were cleaning cell number 1 and 12. At that time Gaikwad was sitting in front of cell no.1. Accused Dayalu hit him on the right cheek with a piece of iron sheet. The policemen on duty immediately detained the accused. The injured Gaikwad has been admitted to Jail Hospital for treatment.
A case has been registered against accused Dayalu. The Yerwada Police is conducting further investigation in this regard.
