Pune Cantonment Board Takes Decision On Stray Dogs, Additional Parking Spots And Action Against Hawkers

Camp, 1st February 2022: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) today approved the rate quoted by an NGO – People of Animals, wherein the NGO will take initiative for catching stray dogs from the Pune Cantonment area and will take them to their tie-up centres for sterilization, anti-rabies vaccination and 5-7 days post-operative care and after post surgeries, dogs will be released back to their original habitat as per the guidelines of Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI).  Initial contract will be carried out for 500 dogs and thereafter review will be carried out by the Board.

The meeting was held in the presence of PCB president Brigadier RR Kamath, CEO Amit Kumar, MLA Sunil Kamble and board member Sachin Mathurawala.

The Board approved additional parking sites –
1)   From Deccan Tower Society to House No.3  Sholapur Bazar
2)   From House No. 276  M G Road to H No 330 V P Street
3)   From H No. 646 Sachapir Street to H No 657 Sachapir Street 4)    Outside compound wall of RWITC

The Board decided to take stringent action against the roadside hawkers creating public nuisance specifically on the major roads of the Cantonment viz. MG Road, East Street, Moledina Road, Ghorpadi, Empress Garden Road, Wanowrie Road etc. The Nuisance Prevention Squad and the entire team will carry out raids and confiscate materials of such roadside hawkers/vendors in order to curb the nuisance and decongest the pavements in the public interest.

The Board has decided to the issuance of monthly passes to the vendors hawking at Kumbhar Bawadi Market, Ghorpuri Vegetable Market, Chhatrapati Shivaji Market etc within the Cantonment limits.

The Board approved the tender for the provision of bituminous macadam and semi-dense concrete both hot mixed hot laid with paver finish for the roads in Pune cantonment amounting to Rs three crore. The Board will undertake the road work.

The Board approved the work of renovation of Chhatrapati Shivaji Market through PWD as an executing agency on behalf of Collector / State Government, amounting to Rs 2.50 crore approx. wherein the Cantonment Board to contribute 50% of the estimated cost i.e. to the tune of Rs 1.25 crore,  out of which the MLA Sunil Kamble through DPDC has sanctioned the fund of Rs 25 lakhs to the PWD.
