Pune: Case Filed Against Rapido Officials For Starting Illegal App
Pune, 25th November 2022: A case has been registered against the officials of Rapido Company for starting an illegal online app without any permission. Rapido provides bike and auto services across the state. A complaint has been lodged against this by the Regional Transport Office (RTO). A case has been registered in Bundgarden police station under IPC section 418, Motor Vehicle Act C 66, 93, 192 (A), 146, 193, 197 and IT Act 66 (D).
A case has been registered against Jagdish Patil and other officers of M Ropan Transportation Services Private Limited, Suyash Plaza Bhandarkar Road. Pune RTO Assistant Regional Transport Officer Anant Ramraje Bhosale (38), a resident of Tridalnagar, Yerwada, Pune has filed a complaint in this matter.
Rapido (The Roppen Transportation Services Pvt. Ltd.) has started private vehicle service without any license from Maharashtra State or Regional Transport Authority. This service has been started by launching an unauthorised and illegal online app across the state including Pune city.
Meanwhile, the rickshaw associations called a bandh on November 28 against this illegal bike tax in Pune. The Bandh was called by Bhaghtoy Rickshawala Association. They were supported by Rickshaw Associations in Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad cities. But even before the protest, a case was filed against the private vehicle companies that were providing illegal services.
A Rapido Spokesperson said, “We have to come know via media reports that an FIR has been filed against our representative in Pune. As a law-abiding corporate, we will follow due process and address the issue at hand. Rapido has empowered over 57,000 Captains in Pune to earn their livelihoods on their own terms and we believe we are helping transform the daily commutes of Punekars for the better.”
