Pune: Case Registered Against Five People In Triple Talaq Case, Husband Arrested

Khadki, 26th May 2023: Khadki police have arrested a husband for giving triple talaq by physically and mentally torturing his wife. The court ordered the husband to be kept in police custody for two days. After that, he was sent to judicial custody and granted bail. Meanwhile, the mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law have approached the court for pre-arrest bail.

A 23-year-old woman has filed a complaint in this regard. The husband and in-laws suspected the character of a married woman and tortured her physically and mentally. The complaint said that the husband refused to live with her while saying talaq three times. Also, brother-in-law threatened to kill her if she filed a complaint at the police station. After that, Khadki police arrested the husband Akib Ayub Mulla (31), a resident of New Nana Peth, Padmaji Park, Pune.

A case under section 4 of the Muslim Women (Protection of Right to Marriage) Act 2019 has been registered against the husband along with the mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law at Khadki police station.

Khadki police registered a case against him on 9th May. Then the police arrested the husband on 23rd May in the case of triple talaq. This is likely to be the first case in Pune where a husband has been arrested in a triple talaq case. This incident took place from 23rd December 2022 to 17th April 2023. Further investigation is being conducted by the Sub-Inspector of Police Anna Gunjal.
