Pune: Case Registered Against PMPML Contractor And Driver For Electric and CNG Buses Collision

Viman Nagar, 2nd August 2023: Two PMPML buses collided yesterday near the Aple Ghar stop along the Pune-Ahmednagar road leaving 29 passengers injured, including eight women. The accident involved an electric bus operated by a civil contractor and a CNG bus operated by PMPML.

According to the police preliminary investigation, the fault lies with the PMPML electric bus driver, who allegedly veered onto the wrong path while overtaking a four-wheeler, resulting in a direct collision with the CNG PMPML bus.

Fortunately, all the passengers suffered minor injuries, with 15 of them already discharged from Sasoon Hospital, where they were admitted for treatment. The remaining injured passengers are expected to be discharged soon, as per the doctor’s recommendations.

Satish Ghate, the spokesperson for PMPML, assured that legal action would be taken against the private contractor responsible for the incident.

The case has been registered by Vimantal police station for offences under the Motor Vehicles Act and sections 279, 338, 337, and 427 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Authorities are currently looking into the CCTV footage at the accident site to gather more details about the incident.

The accused PMPML private contractor is identified as Balu Funde, aged 48, and the driver of the electric bus, who allegedly caused the collision, is named Rahul Dadarav Mane, aged 29.

Police are investigating the case further, and statements from the injured passengers, as well as the accused parties, are being recorded to establish a comprehensive understanding of the events leading to the collision.
