Pune, 1st April 2022: When humans act with cruelty, the world characterises them as ‘animals’, yet the only animal that displays such a form of cruelty is ‘humans’. In a horrifying incident today, a cat was found tied inside a gunny bag, strangled and left to die inside a train.
Assistant Sub Inspector Shaikh Sajid noticed something moving slightly inside the bag lying in the exit toilets and practically jumped on a moving train to retrieve the bag as the train was departing.
Pune RPF (CIB) Inspector Lokesh Sagar called the RESQ team to immediately come as they were uncertain what type of animal was in the bag. Accordingly, Shubham Singh and Harshad from the RESQ team reached under 10 minutes; however, upon opening the gunny bag, the cat was breathing its last as its neck was tied with a cord tightly. Emergency CPR was given but the cat died within minutes from being previously strangled and suffocated inside the plastic bag.
RPF is currently trying to determine when and who left the animal to die in the bag; however, there may be no way to trace the person down because it was passing through a train just making a stop at Pune.
