Pune: Caution Urged For Tourists And Residents As Khadkwasla Dam Reaches Full Capacity

Pune, 27th July 2023: Due to heavy rainfall in the Ghat and catchment areas, the water level at Khadakwasla Dam has reached its full capacity. As a result, water is being released into the riverbed. The Khadakwasla Irrigation Department Pune is urging all tourists and residents to exercise extreme caution and take necessary safety precautions during this time.

Executive Engineer Shweta Kurhade of the Khadakwasla Irrigation Department Pune emphasized the potential dangers and urged tourists not to venture near the water or engage in activities like photography or videography near the dam. The high water levels can lead to unforeseen accidents, making it essential for everyone to prioritize safety.

During the night, there was a discharge of 2568 cusecs from the Khadakwasla dam spillway into the Mutha river basin. As of 9 pm, the discharge has increased to 3424 cusecs. The department is actively monitoring the situation, and further adjustments to the discharge may be made as needed.

Update: From 11 pm, the water discharge was increased to 4280 cusecs.
