Pune, 13th June 2023: A preliminary inquiry by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has uncovered more than Rs 47 lakhs in 17 bank accounts belonging to Dr Anil Ramod, Additional Divisional Commissioner of Pune, and his family. He has been arrested in a bribery case and earlier Rs 6 crore cash was seized from his residence.

After the expiry of his CBI custody remand, Dr Ramod was presented before the CBI special court today. The CBI filed a remand report in court, stating that the accused was uncooperative during their custody. Voice samples of Dr Ramod have been obtained as part of the investigation.

The source of the funds in the bank accounts linked to the Ramod family and the existence of any other illegal assets and money are subjects of the CBI’s ongoing probe. The investigating officer requested the court to grant judicial custody to the accused in order to collect evidence from his office and other locations.

In response, CBI Special Judge SS Waghmare remanded Dr Ramod to judicial custody until June 27. Consequently, Ramod has been transferred to Yerwada Central Jail. Sudhir Shah, Dr Ramod’s lawyer, said that a bail application will be filed soon.

During the investigation, the CBI discovered documents related to a company registered under the name of Dr Ramod’s wife, Vijayalaxmi Ramod. The company, named Vedalaxmi Developers & Designers Pvt. Ltd., came to light. The CBI informed the court that the company was registered in Vijayalaxmi’s name based on the received documents.
