Pune, August 7, 2020: Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol as well as Joint Commissioner of Pune Police Ravindra Shisve have appealed to the Ganesh mandals in the city to celebrate Ganeshotsav low-key and inside the temples itself, instead of celebrating it on roads like every year.

They were both speaking at a meeting with the officials of the Ganesh mandals held on Thursday. Shisve said, “The number of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) patients in the city is increasing with each passing day, and administration and several other organisations are working day and night to bring the situation under control. Also, the mandals that have a temple of their own must celebrate the festival inside the temples itself, while those that don’t should build small pandals only. I appeal to you with all my heart.”

Mohol also said at the meeting that the Ganesh mandals should strictly follow the guidelines given by the Government. “There will be no processions this year. The mandals should make arrangements of digital darshan for devotees. Also, the immersion should be done indoors only,” he added.
