Pune: Central Railway to Complete 740 Special Trips for Diwali and Chhath Travelers, Improves Facilities

Pune, 12th November 2024: Central Railway has announced a total of 740 special train trips for passengers to ease the rush and enable comfortable travel on the occasion of Diwali and Chhath Puja Festivals.

507 Special Trains have been announced which will complete these 740 special train trips, 233 trips of which have already been ferried. These trains include AC Specials, trains with mixed combination of AC, Sleeper and General coaches and also Unreserved Specials.

For the Diwali / Chhath Puja Festival, Special trains are being run from Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur etc to various destinations across the country.
A total of 363 trips have been announced from Mumbai of which 252 have been completed while 111 more trips will be run. Similarly from Pune, 327 trips have announced of which 221 have been run while 106 more trips will be run and from other places like Nagpur, Latur, Daund etc. 50 trips have been announced of which 34 have been run and 16 more will be run.

For passengers travelling to various places in Maharashtra like Latur, Sawantwadi Road, Nagpur, Pune, Kolhapur, Nanded and other places enroute, CR has announced 125 trips, of which 107 trips have been completed and 18 more trips will be run.

For North bound passengers CR has announced 551 trips to various places like Danapur, Gorakhpur, Chhapra, Banaras, Samastipur, Asansol, Agartala, Santragachi and other places enroute of which 356 trips have been completed and 195 more trips will be run.

For South bound passengers CR has announced 64 trips to various places like Karimnagar, Kochuveli, Kazipet, Bengaluru and other destinations of which 44 trips have been completed and 20 more trips will be run.
These Festival Special trains will be helpful to passengers to plan their journeys so as to reach their destinations well in advance and celebrate Diwali / Chhat festivals with their near and dear ones.

To ensure passenger comfort and convenience, Central Railway has Enhanced Passenger Facilities and implemented several measures across its network. ‘May I Help you’ booths are provided to guide and help the passengers at important stations. Number of Ticket counters at various stations are increased to facilitate the passengers. Holding areas are created at major stations. With the help of various NGO’s free drinking water, food and Toilet facilities are being provided to all passengers at designated holding areas within station premises.

The railway has also put in place systematic queue management systems to ensure proper boarding in special trains by deploying extra RPF personnel and ticket checking staff. Visible presence of Railway Protection Force (RPF) and ticket checking staff at key locations throughout the stations is also helpful for maintaining passengers safety and security. These personnel are assisting in directing passengers to their designated platforms, ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, and effectively manage crowd movement throughout the station premises.

Passengers are advised to arrive timely at the station to avoid any last-minute inconvenience. The timely arrival will help in ensuring smoother boarding process and more comfortable travel experience.
