Pune: Chakan Police Arrest Seven, Including Minor, In Multiple Crime Crackdowns

Chakan, 29th January 2025: In three separate operations, Chakan Police have detained seven accused, including a minor, in connection with serious crimes. The primary action was taken against two rickshaw drivers who had attacked and extorted nearly Rs 50,000 via Google Pay from a non-Maharashtrian man working at a Chakan company. All these operations were conducted by the Detection Branch (DB) of Chakan Police Station.
In the robbery and assault case, Chakan Police arrested Raju Bhagwan Gavhane (19, from Mahalunge) and Ajay Balaji Bhalerao (19, from Ambethan). The complaint was filed by Girish Suresh Yadav, a migrant worker in the Chakan MIDC industrial area.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Dr Shivaji Pawar, on the eve of Republic Day, within Chakan Police Station limits, Yadav was extorted of Rs 46,190 on Chakan Bhosari Road in front of Bhandara Hotel. Two rickshaw drivers threatened him with a knife, attacked him, and forced him to transfer money via Google Pay.
Following Yadav’s report to Chakan Police Station, the DB investigated the scene, reviewed CCTV footage, and traced the rickshaw owner. After confirming the accused’s identities and addresses, police arrested Gavhane and Bhalerao, who confessed to the crime. The rickshaw, phones, and weapons used in the crime were seized.
On 26th January, during a patrol, DB officers apprehended three suspicious individuals in possession of stolen mobile phones and a koyta. In a separate incident, Rohan Shankar Davane (20, from Mahalunge) and Jitendra Shrigautam Ram (35, from Sangli, native of Bihar) were arrested for burglary, along with a minor boy. A koyta and phone were also seized from them.
Over two days, Chakan Police solved two registered crimes, apprehended multiple offenders, and detained seven individuals, including a minor, while also registering a case of illegal possession of weapons.
These operations were conducted under the guidance of Pimpri Chinchwad Commissioner of Police Vinoy Kumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Shashikant Mahavarkar, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Dr Shivaji Pawar, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Chakan Division) Rajendra Singh Gaur.
The team, led by Senior Police Inspector Pramod Wagh and Police Inspector (Crime) Natha Gharge, included Assistant Police Inspectors Prasanna Jarhad and Ganpat Ghaygude, along with Police Constables Rushikumar Jhankar, Sunil Shinde, Shivaji Chavan, Hanumant Kamble, Bhairoba Yadav, Raju Jadhav, Revannath Khedkar, Sunil Bhagwant, Sudarshan Barde, Mahesh Koli, Bikkad, Sharad Khairnar, Kiran Ghodake, and Lankawati Hande.
