Chakan, 16th May 2025: In a significant development in the Chakan rape case that shocked Pune earlier this week, the accused, Prakash Tukaram Bhangare, has confessed in court to assaulting a 27-year-old woman on her way to a night shift. The incident, which occurred late on May 13 near Medankarwadi, led to swift police action and the arrest of the accused within 24 hours.
According to police, the victim was walking towards her company’s pick-up point around 11 PM when Bhangare, who was reportedly intoxicated, spotted her and forcibly dragged her behind a building. There, he sexually assaulted and beat her, threatening to kill her if she spoke out. The woman resisted fiercely, even biting the accused, before he fled the scene. She then alerted nearby workers, who helped her contact the Chakan police.
