Pune: Chandni Chowk Flyover Work Finally Completed, Inauguration On August 12
Pune 9th August 2023: The much awaited Chandni Chowk flyover of Pune is finally set to be inaugurated as the officials have claimed that the ongoing work of the flyover and service road around it has been completed and the flyover is ready to open anytime soon. According to the officials, the flyover will be inaugurated by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on August 12. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar will also remain present for the inauguration ceremony in the city.
Built on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway the flyover has missed multiple deadlines till now. The work to build a flyover only picked up after the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s convoy was stuck in a heavy traffic jam for over 1.5 hour here in August last year. The local citizens were demanding for the flyover for a long time due to heavy traffic congestion reported during the peak hours and the work had started in October 2019.
The old bridge was demolished using explosives last year. Being an important national highway the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway connects multiple important cities including Bengaluru, Kolhapur, Pune, Mumbai. Besides, it also helps connect residents of various parts of Pune with the main city. According to reports, on an average around 1.6 Lakh vehicles cross Chandni Chowk flyover every day.
