Pune: PCB Clears Proposal To Transfer 3.5 Acres Of Land For Pune-Nashik Railway Line
Pune 9th August 2023: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has approved a proposal to transfer around 3.5 acre of land for the proposed railway line between Pune and Nashik. The proposal was approved in a general body meeting of the cantonment on Monday. The land will now be transferred to Maharashtra Railway Infrastructure Development Corporation (Maha Rail) against which the Maha Rail is expected to carry out equivalent infrastructure work worth Rs 34 Crore in the cantonment areas.
Claimed to be the first low cost semi-high-speed corridor in the country, Pune-Nashik railway line will help connect industrial zones of Chakan, Alandi, Khed, Manchar, Narayangaon, Sinnar along with providing better connectivity options to the citizens of two cities. The district administration has been engaging with the local farmers to acquire land for the project. A total of approximately Rs 16, 039 Crore will be spent on the project and the railway line will have a total of 24 stations.
Maha Rail, a joint venture between the state government and the ministry of railways has been taking follow-up with the defence ministry to get this land.
