Pune: Charas Worth Rs One Crore Seized By Government Railway Police, Drugs Racket Busted Ahead Of New Year

Pune, December 21, 2020: Two smugglers from Himachal Pradesh have been arrested by the Pune Government Railway Police (GRP) for allegedly supplying drugs ahead of the new year party. Police have seized 34 kg and 400 grams of Charas worth Rs 1,03,64,000 from them.

The Himachal Pradesh Police had given the confidential information to Pune GRP Superintendent Sadanand Waise-Patil.

The two arrested were unidentified as Lalit Kumar Dayanand Sharma (49) and Kailas Singh Rupsingh Singh (40) and both hail from Himachal Pradesh. A case has been registered in this regard at Lohmarg Police Station. 34 kg and 400 grams of Charas worth Rs 1,03,64,000 was seized from their possession.

A batchmate of Railway Superintendent of Police Sadanand Waise-Patil is currently working in Himachal Pradesh. He had informed Sadanand Waise Patil that the peddlers will try to smuggle drugs in Pune. After that, four squads of Railway Police kept watching every train coming from Delhi for seven consecutive days. On December 19, it was learned that two persons would be carrying drugs under the Wadia Bridge in the Pune Railway Police Station area. The Railway Police with the help of three squads set a trap and arrested the two at 10:45 pm. The Charas has been found in their bag.

Police interrogated them after seizing their drugs. They said that 22 kg of Charas was going to be distributed in Mumbai, 5kg in Goa, 5kg in Bangalore and 2 kg 400 grams in Pune. On the eve of 31st, this Charas was to be used in various hotels around Pune city. Now the police are investigating the whereabouts of the people who have ordered these drugs and the places where these alleged drug parties are going to be held.

The action was taken by a team comprising Additional SP Kavita Nerkar-Pawar, Police Inspectors Maula Sayyed, Sureshsingh Gaud and police personnel Santosh Lakhe, Mahendra Kendre, Ashok Gaikwad, Gangadhar Ippar, Ramesh Shinde, Shrikant Bonakati and Ksilas Jadhav.
