Pune: Check Traffic Diversion Plan Ahead of PM Modi’s Rally On Monday

Pune, 28th April 2024: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address a Lok Sabha election rally at the Race Course ground in Pune on Monday, April 29th. 

Anticipating a massive turnout, authorities have announced a traffic diversion plan to ensure smooth vehicular movement in the city during the event. Police have appealed to the people to avoid passing through the Race Course and Camp area from 2 pm to 10 pm on Monday.

Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region), Manoj Patil, has confirmed that extensive traffic diversions will be put in place to prevent any congestion in Pune city. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic Branch), Rohidas Pawar, has outlined the plan which will be enforced from 4 pm to 9 pm on Monday.

Key aspects of the traffic diversion plan include:

1. Turf Club Chowk Road: Two-way traffic will be maintained on the Turf Club Chowk road from the water tank in the Race Course area.  

2. Closure of Roads: Several roads leading to the event venue will be closed, including the road from the Turf Club main entrance to Turf Club Chowk and the road from Arjun Road Junction on Solapur Road to the Turf Club main entrance.

3. Alternate Routes: Motorists are advised to use alternate routes to reach their destinations. For instance, from Mammadevi Junction and Beur Road Junction to their desired destinations.

Additionally, certain roads will be temporarily closed as per the requirement, with alternative routes suggested for commuters. These include routes from Golibar Maidan to Bhairobanala, Bhairobanala to Golibar Maidan Chowk, Mor odha to Bhairobanala, and Bhairobanala to Mor Odha, among others.

Areas such as Golibar Maidan, Mammadevi Chowk, Bhairobanala Chowk, Ambedkar Putla Chowk Camp, Koregaon Park Junction, Tadigutta Chowk, and Noble Hospital are expected to experience slow-moving traffic. To alleviate congestion, the traffic branch of Pune city has appealed to motorists to avoid the Race Course and Camp area between 2 pm to 10 pm on Monday.

Alternative routes have been suggested for external roads passing through the area, such as Nagar Road from Poultry Farm Chowk to Sangamwadi, as well as Lullanagar, Gangadham Chowk, and Satara Road for those traveling from Solapur Road to Jedhe Chowk.

Moreover, motorists are encouraged to utilize routes through Mantarwadi, Khadimachine Chowk, Katraj Road, bypass road, Kharadi Bypass, Mundhwa, and Noble Hospital Road to navigate through the city.
