Pune: Chinchwad By-Election Votes To Be Counted Tomorrow, ECI Makes All Preparation

Chinchwad, 1st March 2023: Preparations for the counting of votes for the Chinchwad assembly constituency by-election have been completed, with training sessions held for the supervisors, assistants and micro-inspectors who will be responsible for the process. The counting of votes will take place on Thursday, March 2, with a total of 37 rounds of counting at Shankar Anna Gawde Kamgar Bhavan in Thergaon.
The training provided detailed information and instructions on the duties, responsibilities, and necessary operations for the counting process, including technical training on how to count the votes on the control unit given according to the table, and information on filling in the prescribed form while counting the votes.
A total of 14 tables, plus one table for postal ballots, will be used for counting, with 18 supervisors, 18 assistants, and 18 micro-inspectors appointed for the process. Before the counting of votes begins, the staff appointed for counting the votes will be randomized by a computerized system.
The counting of votes will be done according to the rules and guidelines of the Election Commission of India. Initially, postal and ETPBS (Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System) votes will be counted, followed by the counting of EVMs. After each round of counting, the Election Returning Officer will announce the candidate-wise votes through loudspeakers. After completion of all rounds, the ballots in five VVPAT machines will be randomly counted, and the number of votes on the control unit and the ballots in the VVPAT will be verified.
Election returning officer Sachin Dhole informed that a media room at the counting centre and a parking lot for election officer staff have been arranged in the open space adjacent to Kamgar Bhawan in Thergaon.
The Election Commission has issued strict instructions that all the procedures should be followed during the counting process and that all the instructions of the Election Commission of India should be strictly adhered to. The counting staff has been instructed regarding the care to be taken while counting the votes, various forms to be filled, etc.
This by-election has garnered significant attention, and both major political parties have been campaigning extensively. The official result of the Chinchwad Vidhan Sabha by-election is expected to be announced on Thursday, March 2, from 1 to 1.30 pm. However, it remains to be seen which party will emerge victorious.
