Koregaon Park, 1st March 2023: Pune Police have deployed heavy security measures in anticipation of the Kasba by-election results, with more than 700 officers and staff deployed in the Koregaon Park area, along with the godown of the Food Corporation of India on South Main Road.

The counting of votes will take place in the Koregaon Park godown, and the traffic movement has been changed in the area. Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr and Joint Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik reviewed the arrangements with senior officers today.

While the official results are expected to be announced on March 2, police have prohibited any victory processions after the announcement. Moreover, social media platforms will be monitored by a team of cybercrime specialists, with police warning of consequences for any malpractices and offensive messages circulated online. The police have also appealed for the maintenance of law and order.

During the polling day, there were incidents of arguments between workers and allegations of money distribution, causing a stir in the political atmosphere. In light of these incidents, police teams from Special Branch and Crime Branch will patrol the central area on Thursday, in addition to the increased security measures in sensitive areas.

Meanwhile, the ongoing 10th-class exams have prompted the concerned transport department to take precautions to ensure that students can reach the exam centre quickly. The traffic police have been instructed to avoid traffic congestion in the area, while police security has been increased in the examination centre area. The police have urged the public to maintain peace and not disturb the examinees.

The security measures in place aim to ensure a peaceful and fair by-election, as well as the safe conduct of the 10th-class exams.
