Pune: Chinchwad Receives 55 MM Rain In Last 24 Hours, Pashan Receives 43 MM

Pune : 27th Sept 2023: With celebration of Ganesh festival in the city, the rainfall activity has also resumed in Pune as the city and rural parts of the district have been receiving good rainfall over the last few days. Several areas in the city received above 50 mm rain in less than 24 hours.

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), Chinchwad received 55 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours while Talegaon recorded 50.55 mm rain, Pashan received 43 mm, Shivajinagar 37.9 mm, Lavale 37 mm, Dapodi 37 mm, NDA 36.5 mm, Bhor 32 mm, Koregaon Park 29 mm, Rajgurunagar 23 mm, Magarpatta 22 mm and Hadapsar 20 mm rain.

The heavy rain also resulted in waterlogging and tree fall incidents in some places in the city which led to heavy traffic congestion on some routes. The fire brigade department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) received four calls related to tree fall incidents including those from Wadgaon Sheri, Yerawada, Aundh and Bibvewadi.

The water levels in the dams have also increased due to heavy rain reported in the catchment areas. The water storage in the Khadakwasla cluster has reached 95.84% (27.94 TMC) compared to 99.88% (29.12 TMC) reported on the same day.
