Pune: CID Questions VSR Ventures Director in Ajit Pawar Plane Crash Case
Pune, 6th March 2026: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Thursday, March 5, questioned V.K. Singh, director of VSR Ventures, in connection with the plane crash near Baramati that claimed the life of former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar.
The investigation into the accident was transferred to the CID following the fatal crash.
According to officials, Pawar was travelling from Mumbai to Baramati on January 28 to campaign for district council elections. The aircraft had taken off around 8 am and was preparing to land at Baramati airport when the crash occurred.
Apart from Pawar, the accident also claimed the lives of pilot Sumit Kapoor, co-pilot Shambhavi Pathak, flight attendant Pinky Mali, and Pawar’s security guard Videep Jadhav. A case related to the crash has been registered at Baramati Police Station, and the probe is currently being carried out by the CID.
Following Pawar’s death, questions were raised about possible pilot negligence or sabotage. Rohit Pawar had earlier held press conferences alleging serious lapses on the part of the aviation company.
Amid parallel investigations by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB), Singh was summoned for questioning.
Singh arrived at the CID office on Pashan Road around 11 am along with his son Rohit. According to senior CID officials, he was questioned in detail about the aircraft’s operational procedures, maintenance records, technical aspects, adherence to safety protocols, and other factors related to the crash.
