Pune: Citizens Question Safety Measures After Yet Another Lift Incident In PCMC Building
Pimpri, 10th May 2023: In an alarming incident at the reputed Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), a group of seven to eight individuals, including a disabled person, found themselves trapped inside an elevator.
Despite the efforts of the lift operator and others, it took nearly half an hour to successfully rescue them. This incident has sparked discussions and raised concerns, particularly due to its occurrence in a new, supposedly empty lift.
At approximately 12:30 in the afternoon, the lift within the Municipal Corporation malfunctioned, leaving municipal employees, citizens, and a disabled person stranded. The occupants inside the lift were overwhelmed with panic as the elevator abruptly came to a halt. Some individuals even reported difficulty in breathing, intensifying the situation.
The lift operator and others promptly rushed to the third floor of the building to assist those trapped. After a painstaking half-hour effort, they managed to safely extricate all the individuals from the lift.
