Pune: Citizens Suffer from Traffic Jams in Bibvewadi; Takes 30 Minutes to Cross Two Kilometers
Bibvewadi, 19th May 2023: Residents of Bibvewadi are experiencing severe traffic congestion due to ongoing road works at four different locations on the internal road, including Swami Vivekananda Road. The situation is particularly challenging for commuters traveling from Manik Dugad Chowk on Satara Road, where road construction is causing significant delays and traffic jams.
At the beginning of Vivekananda Road, near Manik Dugad Chowk in Prem Nagar, the cement concreting work of the old road connecting to Vivekananda Road, adjacent to the subway, is progressing at a slower pace than anticipated. This has resulted in a bottleneck at the chowk, leading to a traffic gridlock.
Another section affected by the road works is Gaonthan Chowk on Vivekananda Road. A stretch of 130 meters of cement concreting work is underway, leading to Bhagli Hospital Chowk. However, the road remains partially completed, and parked vehicles exacerbate the traffic congestion. Additionally, due to the presence of schools along this road, students have to walk to school, further adding to the challenges.
The ongoing cement concrete work on the 80-meter road from Bibvewadi Police Station to Samvidhan Chowk is progressing at a slow pace. Partial work has been done on both sides of the road, with excavation for cement concreting taking place on one side of the 90-meter road along the Chaitraban slum, from Samvidhan Chowk to the Upper Depot Bus Stand.
As a result, citizens have been enduring significant traffic jams on a daily basis. It takes approximately 30 minutes for vehicles to navigate through just a few meters, causing frustration for residents of Lake Town Society, Upper, Mahalakshmi Nagar, Sukhsagar Nagar, and VIT Hostel. The affected citizens are demanding permanent solutions to address the issue and are requesting the authorities to expedite the ongoing road works causing the traffic congestion.
