Pune, September 8, 2020: The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) and Janwadi Mahila Sanghatana, on Monday, protested against the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) for issuing exorbitant amounts of electricity bills to poor households. How could MSEDCL send bills of Rs 6,000-7,000 to those living in hardly small two-room households, the protesters have questioned condemning the department. The protests were held outside the District Collector’s office.

Ajit Abhyankar of CITU and Kiran Moghe of Janwadi Sanghatana led the protests, wherein the protesters also questioned the mismanagements and malpractices at the Jumbo COVID Hospital.

While speaking on the occasion, Abhyankar said that instead of lighting up the houses of the poor, the MSEDCL is taking it away from them, and how does it expect these people to pay such huge amounts of bills when they do not even use that much electricity. He has demanded that the State Government must look into the matter, and take action at the earliest.
