Pune City Mahila Congress Holds Silent Protest Against Disqualification of Rahul Gandhi From Lok Sabha
Pune, 26th March 2023: In a show of solidarity, the Pune City Mahila Congress held a silent protest against the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi from Lok Sabha. All leaders, officials, and workers of Congress and allied parties participated in this movement.
The protest was held near Phadke Haud in Pune, with Congress leaders and workers tying black bands around their faces. Speaking on the occasion, Congress leader Sangeeta Tiwari criticized the BJP for attempting to kill democracy.
Tiwari alleged that the motive behind suspending Rahul Gandhi’s MP status was an attempt to suppress his voice. She pointed out that the case against Gandhi had been adjourned twice before being suddenly pulled out again. Despite the court giving a deadline of 30 days, the decision was taken in just one day. Tiwari further stated that Rahul Gandhi speaks against corruption and that the Modi government was trying to suppress his voice.
The Pune City Mahila Congress launched a scathing attack on the BJP, accusing them of attempting to silence opposition voices. The protest was part of a nationwide movement by the Congress party to draw attention to what they see as an assault on democracy by the ruling BJP.
