Kochi Airport Runway Temporarily Closed After Coast Guard Helicopter Accident
Kochi, 26th March 2023: The Kochi airport runway was closed for approximately two hours after a Coast Guard ALH helicopter had an accident during takeoff at 12:25 pm. In response, airport operations were temporarily suspended. The helicopter was subsequently removed from the operational area by around 2 pm, and a safety inspection was conducted to clear the runway. Flight operations were expected to resume within 10 minutes.
As a result of the incident, two flights were diverted. Further details about the nature of the accident and the condition of the helicopter crew are currently unknown.
