Pune City, Pimpri Chinchwad And Pune Rural Police Infrastructure Gets Boost With Rs 150 Crore Funding

Pune, 31st May 2023: Funding of Rs 150 crores has been allocated for the infrastructure development of Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad City Police Commissionerate as well as the Pune Rural Police Force. District Guardian Minister Chandrakant Patil announced that Rs 41 crore has already been sanctioned, and the remaining amount will be made available soon.

The announcement was made during the inauguration of the newly constructed two-storied building of Velhe Police Station under the Pune Rural Police Force. The event was attended by Special Inspector General of Police (Kolhapur Range) Sunil Phulari, District Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal, and other officials from various departments.

Minister Patil emphasized the importance of equipping the police force with modern equipment and providing funds for their accommodation to maintain law and order in the state. Both Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate and Pune Rural Police Force have received Rs 2 crore each from the District Planning Committee for vehicles. Additionally, over Rs 2 lakh has been allocated for the gymnasium of Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate.

The construction of Velhe Police Station has been carried out using modern techniques, and a fund of Rs 3 crore 34 lakh has been provided through the District Planning Committee for its construction and furnishing. The police force will continue to receive funds for facilities as and when required. Minister Patil expressed confidence that this new building would contribute to maintaining excellent law and order in the area.

The police department is utilizing new technologies to solve crimes, and Minister Patil urged citizens to report any incidents in their locality to the police. He emphasized the need for impartial investigations and speedy resolution of cases related to women, caste disputes, and other crimes. Patil encouraged everyone to remain vigilant and prevent the occurrence of crimes.

Special Inspector General of Police, Sunil Phulari, highlighted the eco-friendly and nature-friendly design of the Velhe Police Station building. He stressed the importance of transparency in the work of police officers and employees, urging citizens to reach out to the police administration in case of any untoward incidents in their area.

Superintendent of Police, Ankit Goyal, mentioned that the old police station was housed in a dilapidated British-era building. The new construction and furnishing of the police station were made possible through funds provided by the District Planning Committee.

Minister Patil inspected the newly constructed building and expressed his satisfaction with the work done. He also planted trees in the premises of the police station as a symbol of environmental awareness and sustainability.

During the event, Assistant Police Inspector Manoj Pawar was felicitated for his exceptional work in solving a rape case involving a three-year-old girl in the Panshet area. Pawar’s exemplary investigation and presentation of evidence led to the conviction of the accused, who was sentenced to death. He was awarded as the best investigating officer by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, along with medals from the Home Minister and Director General of Police.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by former Zilla Parishad members, Panchayat Samiti, Sarpanch of Gram Panchayat, and citizens from the area.

Velhe Police Station, with a total area of 783.30 square meters, features 12 rooms on the ground floor and 6 rooms on the first floor. The jurisdiction of the police station covers 129 villages, including mountain valleys, two forts, three dams, and various tourist spots and temples. The employees of the police station also actively participated in tree plantation activities in the vicinity.
