Pune, 18th February 2023: The Shiv Sena party symbol and name being given to Eknath Shinde has led to clashes between the Thackeray and Shinde groups across the state, with one incident in Pune resulting in an argument between activists of both parties. The Election Commission has awarded the bow and arrow symbol to Chief Minister Shinde, leaving Thackeray and his followers frustrated.

At a private news channel program in Pune, activists of both groups shouted slogans against each other, creating tension in the area. Thackeray’s workers had previously protested against Shinde and his followers, leading to further unrest. After the incident, police arrived on the scene and took control of the situation.

Shiv Sena was founded by Bal Thackeray in 1966, and under his leadership, the party became a major force in Maharashtra politics. After Thackeray’s death in 2012, his son Uddhav Thackeray took over as party chief. Eknath Shinde, on the other hand, is a senior Shiv Sena leader and a close associate of Uddhav Thackeray. With the Election Commission decision, Shinde’s power and influence within the party have grown significantly, leaving the Thackeray camp feeling aggrieved.
