Pune, 17th July 2022: At midnight on Saturday, a gas leak caused a huge explosion in a house in Patna (Bihar), leaving all four members of the family with severe burns. The family of Amol Jadhav hails from Gursale village in Khatav taluka of Satara district of Maharashtra and are settled in Patna for business.

They were immediately admitted to a private hospital in Patna but the doctors there advised the patients to be shifted to special burn hospitals in Pune or Mumbai for better further treatment. The family’s relatives then decided to take them to Pune for further treatment and started efforts to get an Air Ambulance.

The Air Ambulance Company said that only one patient can be taken at a time. Due to the condition, the relatives of the said family felt helpless and were in tears all day on Saturday with the question of how to arrange lakhs of rupees for the transport cost. The relatives sought help from many people they know in the area but could not succeed. Due to the exorbitant cost of air transport, the mental stress of the relatives was increasing.

During this time, a relative contacted Chief Minister Eknath Shinde through Sangli MLA Anil Babar. After being contacted, the relatives made the facts known to the Chief Minister. Soon, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde requested the Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia to arrange the Government Air Ambulance urgently, but due to some technical problems the Government Air Ambulance could not be made available.

Further, as time was getting critical, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde immediately booked two Air Ambulances at his own expense. The Shiv Sena medical aid cell chief, Mangesh Chivte further ordered to transport the victim’s family to Pune urgently and the first special air ambulance arrived at the Lohegaon airport in Pune at 6 am on Sunday, including an 11-year-old boy among the injured. The second special air ambulance arrived at the airport at 11 am, carrying the 12-year-old child among the injured. Both the injured patients have been admitted to Surya Sahyadri Hospital in Pune with the help of Shiv Sena Medical Aid Coordinator Rajabhau Bhilare and Yuvraj Kakade.

Relatives of the patient shed joyful tears at the airport after receiving timely help and a relative expressed, “We don’t have words, God exists in people which we felt and understood today. Eknath Saheb helped us without any knowledge of our name, village, address, identity, or anyone’s recommendation. We went to many people to receive help but could not find any. But Shinde Saheb came to our aid.”

The mother of the victims said that after her children recover, she will take them to meet CM Shinde.
