Pune: CM Fadnavis Orders Action Against MSEDCL Engineer in Warje Electrocution Case; Rs 4 Lakh Aid to Victim’s Family
Warje, 9th July 2025: Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced disciplinary action and financial assistance in connection with the tragic death of a 10-year-old boy who was electrocuted after coming into contact with a live electric pole in Pune’s Warje area.
A show cause notice has been issued to the Additional Executive Engineer of the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), and compensation of ₹4 lakh has been sanctioned for the victim’s family.
The incident occurred on May 14 in Ramnagar, Warje, where Mayank Pradeep Adagale, a young boy, lost his life after reportedly touching an iron electric pole that had become live due to a fault in the electricity distribution system. The boy’s death sparked outrage and prompted questions about negligence on the part of MSEDCL officials.
Khadakwasla MLA Bhimrao Tapkir raised the issue in the Assembly through a starred question, seeking clarity on the circumstances of the electrocution and whether similar incidents had occurred in the area previously. Responding to the question, CM Fadnavis confirmed that the child had indeed died due to electric shock from a live MSEDCL pole.
“This is a serious lapse. While there have been no prior reports of such incidents in the area, a thorough investigation was conducted. Based on the findings, a notice has been served to the Additional Executive Engineer of MSEDCL for negligence,” Fadnavis said.

As part of the compensation package, ₹20,000 has already been given as emergency relief to the family, and the remaining amount will be disbursed shortly. The Chief Minister assured that strict accountability will be enforced to prevent such incidents in the future.
