Pune: Collector Directs PMC, PWD, Cantonment Board To Address Traffic Jam At Aundh Road-Khadki Junction

Pune, 30th May 2023: In an effort to address the persistent traffic congestion at the Aundh Road-Khadki Railway Junction area, District Collector Dr Rajesh Deshmukh has instructed the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Public Works Department (PWD), and Khadki Cantonment Board to collaborate and take joint action to remove encroachments along the road.

 

A meeting was convened at the Collector’s office to discuss measures for resolving the traffic issues in the Aundh Road-Khadki Railway Junction area. MLA Siddharth Shirole, Additional Commissioner of PMC Vikas Dhakne, Resident Deputy Collector Jyoti Kadam, and officials from the Khadki Cantonment Board were present at the meeting.

Dr Deshmukh emphasized the importance of smoothing traffic flow along this route and highlighted the instructions issued by the Road Safety Committee. Recognizing the traffic problems in the area, he urged the Municipal Corporation to proactively address the issue by removing encroachments that contribute to the congestion. The cooperation of the PWD and Cantonment Board is essential in this endeavor, and necessary action should be taken promptly.

 

MLA Shirole provided an update on the traffic situation in the area. He mentioned that ongoing flyover construction at Savitribai Phule Pune University has led to increased traffic stress on the road near Khadki Railway Junction. It is imperative to clear the road by removing encroachments.
