Pune, 26th December 2024: Citizens of the Hadapsar area in Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) are facing issues with untimely and low-pressure water supply. Six schemes under the Equal Water Supply Scheme in Hadapsar are incomplete, leading to significant water problems in the area. To resolve this, a Congress delegation, led by former MLA Mohan Joshi and Congress OBC Cell Pune City President Prashant Surase, met PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale today. The delegation also included Women Pune City Vice President Pallavi Surase, Nandkumar Ajotikar, Sachin Nemkar, Ganesh Jagtap, Rishabh Ranadive, and Sandesh Bhadkumbe.

Hadapsar Gaonthan and Gadital village have been part of the PMC limits for about 60 years. Areas such as Satavwadi, Gondhale Nagar, 15 Number, Laxmi Colony, Akashvani, Vitthal Nagar, Sasane Nagar, and Kale Borate Nagar have been included since 1997. However, these areas continue to suffer from irregular water supply, with low pressure and water being supplied at odd hours, sometimes as late as 4 AM. In some areas, residents receive water for only one hour. Despite paying crores in taxes, citizens in these areas are not receiving adequate services.

Citizens, especially women, are frustrated as they have been receiving water for just one hour a day for the past 27 years. Despite the expenditure of crores of rupees, these water supply schemes have remained incomplete and delayed for the past six to seven years. The delegation expressed disappointment over PMC’s neglect of essential services like water supply. Despite multiple protests, the area still faces inadequate water supply and is not yet tanker-free.

The incomplete Equal Water Supply Scheme has raised concerns, with citizens questioning the administration’s haste in installing meters. The delegation has demanded that the installation of meters be halted until the scheme is completed. They also called for a personal inspection of all pending projects to expedite the completion of the water supply scheme, resolve the water shortage in Hadapsar, and make the area tanker-free. If these issues are not addressed, the citizens will be warned of stronger protests in the future, as stated in the delegation’s report to the PMC Commissioner.
