Pune: Contractor Booked After Labourer Dies in Slab Collapse in Camp Area

Camp, 5th July 2025: A case has been registered at Lashkar Police Station against a contractor after a labourer died following the collapse of a concrete slab at a construction site in Pune’s Camp area. The accused, contractor Yuvraj Raut, a resident of Mohammadwadi, has been booked based on a complaint filed by Police Sub-Inspector Avdhoot Deshmukh.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on 1st July at a building under construction on Sachapir Street in Pune Camp. Four labourers were working on a concrete slab at the time, including Subhankar Mandal (age 19), a native of West Bengal. Around 2 PM, the slab collapsed, seriously injuring all four.
Mandal was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries before treatment could begin.
Lashkar Police visited the accident site immediately after the incident. Following preliminary investigation, contractor Raut was found responsible for the mishap due to his failure to provide adequate safety measures and precautions for the labourers.
Police Sub-Inspector Shivananda Jadhav is investigating the matter further.
