Pune: Man Duped of Rs 60,000 Ring by Fake Fortune Teller in Narayan Peth

Narayan Peth, 5th July 2025: A young man from Kothrud was duped by an unidentified person who posed as a fortune teller and stole his gold ring worth Rs 60,000. The incident took place near Shri Mankeshwar Vishnu Mandir in Pune’s Narayan Peth area. A case has been registered at Vishrambaug Police Station.
According to police reports, the victim had visited the temple when the accused approached him, claiming he could predict his future and offer solutions to the problems he was currently facing. During the interaction, the fraudster asked the man to show the gold ring he was wearing.
The victim handed over the ring, after which the accused pretended to perform a ritual and placed the ring in his mouth. When the young man asked for it back, the accused told him the ring would mysteriously reappear at his home inside a sacred paper, “more powerful than before.” Moments later, the man fled the scene.
