Pune: Contractor Booked for Forging Lift License and Cheating Society Residents
Camp, 9th January 2026: The Bundgarden Police have registered a case against a 36-year-old contractor for allegedly forging documents and using another company’s license to illegally install an elevator at a residential society in the Camp area.
At present, the lift installation work is stalled.
The FIR (No. 0005/2026) was registered on January 7, 2026, following a complaint filed by Ravishankar Prasad Chaurasia (61), a resident of Kondhwa Budruk and owner of a lift service company named ‘RC Technology’.
According to the police complaint, the accused has been identified as Masud Sheikh Husain (36), a resident of Kondhwa, and the proprietor of ‘Hind Enterprises’.
The incident came to light when Nitin Suryavanshi, an Electrical Inspector, contacted the complainant, Chaurasia, on November 30, 2025.
Suryavanshi inquired if Chaurasia had applied for lift installation permission at ‘Gita Society’ on Synagogue Street, Camp. Chaurasia was shocked to learn that his company’s credentials (RC Technology) were being used for a project he had no knowledge of.
Investigations revealed that the accused, Masud Sheikh, had allegedly taken a contract to install a ‘Wingla’ brand lift at Gita Society for flat owners of F-13 and F-15. Since Sheikh reportedly did not possess the necessary license to authorize the installation, he allegedly forged a permission letter (dated July 21, 2025) using the registration number and name of the complainant’s firm.
The accused allegedly duped the flat owners into paying ₹7 lakh (out of a total deal of ₹18 lakh) in cash and online transfers by presenting these forged documents as genuine government permissions.
Upon realizing the fraud, Chaurasia approached the Bundgarden Police Station. A case has been registered against Masud Sheikh under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, specifically under sections:
•318(4): Cheating
•336(2), 336(3), 336(4): Forgery of documents
•340(2): Using forged documents as genuine
Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Vasant Chavan has been assigned to investigate the matter further.
