Pune Coronavirus: After death woman’s report test Coronavirus Positive in Pimpri

Pune/Pimpri 22 April 2020: A 50-year-old woman, a resident of Markedyard area in Pune, died within few hours after being admitted to the YCM hospital in Pimpri for treatment. Yesterday night, officials received her report from National Institute of Virology (NIV) Pune stating that she was COVI19 positive.

According to Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), the woman was earlier admitted to a private hospital in Pimpri for treatment. The hospital had sent her to PCMC run YCM hospital on Sunday (April 20) as a Coronavirus suspect. She died within few hours. However, her samples were sent for testing which has come positive. Now her report has been sent to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) where it will be included in the total list of patients.

The number of Coronavirus positive patients has reached 890 in Pune district today and 115 corona affected patients have recovered and gone home. It also includes a 92-year-old grandmother with a 3-year-old child. A total of 58 persons have died in the district Also, 20 patients are critical and the rest are under observation, informed Pune Divisional Commissioner Dr. Deepak Mhaisekar.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Commissioner Shravan Hardikar has issued an order declaring all areas under PCMC as containment zone for strict enforcement of curfew till April 27. According to the order, there is a continuous increase in number COVID19 patients in Pimpri-Chinchwad areas, which requires stringent steps as per protocol declared by the state and central government.

Police have been ordered to close all exit points including major roads. Also, Kirana, banks, milk, chicken/mutton, vegetable, fruits, will be sold only between 10 am to 2 pm. PCMC has already designated spots for vegetable/fruits sale. No vendor is allowed to sell them on carts. Hospital, medical stores will remain functional. The home delivery of medicine, food, grocery and other essential commodities will be allowed between 8 am to 10 pm. The Moshi sub yard will continue to function as per the order of Pune divisional commissioner.
