Pune Court Sentences Four in Human Trafficking Case

Pune, 1st March 2025: Four individuals have been convicted and sentenced in a significant human trafficking case by the Pune District and Sessions Court. The case, originally registered at Bhor Police Station in 2021, involved charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, POCSO Act, and Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

Judge K.D. Shirbhate handed down the following sentences:

Komal Sunil More alias Kore (26) and Reshma Mahesh Gaikwad alias Reshma Surose (29) received multiple sentences, including:
* 7 years imprisonment and Rs. 2,000 fine under IPC Section 363
* 7 years imprisonment and Rs. 2,000 fine under IPC Section 366
* 10 years imprisonment and Rs. 5,000 fine under IPC Section 370(4)
* 7 years imprisonment and Rs. 1,000 fine each under Sections 4, 5, and 6 of the PITA Act

Sunil Brijlal Kori and Jasaram Bhayaram Sutar were sentenced to:
* 10 years imprisonment and Rs. 5,000 fine under POCSO Act Section 6
* 5 years imprisonment and Rs. 5,000 fine under IPC Section 370(1)

The investigation was conducted by Police Inspector Pravin More under the guidance of then Deputy Superintendent of Police Dhananjay Patil. Public Prosecutor Nitin Konghe represented the government’s case.

The court proceedings were overseen by Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, with support from District Court Pairavi Officer PI Santosh Gholve and other police personnel. The investigation was carried out diligently by the Bhor Police Station team, despite challenging circumstances during the COVID-19 pandemic.
