Pune Court Sentences Man to 20 Years in 2017 Rape Case

Pune, 25th March 2025: A Pune court sentenced 27-year-old Bhimrao Mukinda Kamble to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹10,000 for the rape of a 14-year-old girl in December 2017. The court also ordered an additional three months of imprisonment if the fine is not paid.
The victim filed a complaint at Hadapsar Police Station regarding the incident, which occurred in December 2017. The accused, Kamble, worked at a poultry farming business next to the victim’s house. When the girl was alone at home, Kamble took advantage of the situation, threatened to kill her, and raped her. The case came to light after the victim became pregnant.
Hadapsar police investigated the case and arrested Kamble. Assistant Police Inspector Kalyani Shinde investigated and filed a charge sheet against the accused in court. Additional Public Prosecutor Vilas Ghogre Patil argued the case.
The government recorded the testimony of eight witnesses, with the victim’s testimony being crucial. Given the seriousness of the crime, Public Prosecutor Ghogre Patil requested strict punishment for the accused. Considering the testimony and medical evidence, Special Judge S.R. Salunkhe sentenced Kamble to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of ten thousand rupees, with a provision for three months of additional imprisonment in case of non-payment. Police Officer A.J. Gosavi assisted in the court proceedings.
