Pune Court Sentences Man to 20 Years Rigorous Imprisonment for Sexually Assaulting Minor

Hadapsar, 6th March 2026: A special court in Pune has sentenced a 40-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for the sexual assault of a minor girl in 2020. The convict, identified as Kundalik Gulabrao Jadhav, a resident of Mohammedwadi, was also ordered to pay a fine.
The incident dates back to August 27, 2020, when a case was registered at the Wanowrie Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The crime occurred in the Rajiv Gandhi Colony area of Tarwade Vasti, Mohammedwadi.
The investigation was initially conducted by Police Sub-Inspector Abhijit Jogdand and later completed by Sandeep Warpade, who filed the chargesheet in court. During the trial, Special Public Prosecutor Milind D. Datrange represented the state and presented the testimony of witnesses and evidence gathered by the police.
Judge M.K. Mahajan, Principal District and Sessions Judge, Pune, found Jadhav guilty under Sections 5(m) and 6 of the POCSO Act, sentencing him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹10,000. Failure to pay the fine will result in an additional year of imprisonment. Furthermore, under Sections 11(2), (3), and 12 of the POCSO Act, he was sentenced to an additional three years of rigorous imprisonment and a ₹5,000 fine, with a default sentence of six extra months.
The successful conviction was achieved under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajlakshmi Shivankar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wanowrie Division) Namrata Desai, and Senior Police Inspector Bhausaheb Patil. Court Liaison Officer Dinesh Jadhav played a key role in presenting the evidence before the court.
