Pune: Crime Branch Arrests Builder Amit Lunkad In Cheating Case

Pune, 21st June 2021: The Crime Branch of Pune city police has arrested builder Amit Lunkad, director of Lunkad Realty, for allegedly cheating a man of Rs 21.26 lakh under the pretext of lucrative returns on investment.

 

Based on a complaint from Sanjay Vilas Honrao (48) of Ambegaon Budruk, an FIR was registered against Lunkad at Yerwada police station today afternoon. Crime Branch’s anti-extortion cell-2 arrested him at 9 pm.

According to police, the incident took place from 23rd July 2019 till date at Lunkad Realty’s office in Sky One building in Kalyaninagar. “Lunkad had promised to pay 15% return per month on investment. Accordingly, I invested Rs 21.26 lakh but did not get the promised return. When I asked him to refund my invested money, he refused”, the FIR states.

 

Police have arrested Lunkad for offences under sections 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He will be produced before a judicial magistrate at District Court in Shivajinagar on Tuesday. Police sub-inspector Vijay Zanjad is further investigating the case.
