Pune: Crime Branch Arrests Man For Demanding Rs 30 Lakh Extortion From CA

Pune, 30th January 2023: The sleuths from Crime Branch unit 2 of Pune city police have nabbed a man who threatened to kill family members of a famous chartered accountant (CA) if he was not paid Rs 30 lakh as extortion.

The arrested person has been identified as Kiran Ramdas Biradar (24), a resident of Manjari in Udgir taluka of Latur district, Maharashtra.

After getting the complaint, a team was formed by Senior Police Inspector Krantikumar Patil of Unit 2. The accused first demanded Rs 10 lakh to be brought to the PMC building. Later, he asked for the amount to be given at Garware bridge.

Accordingly, a trap was laid. The bag containing money was kept near Garware Bridge where the accused had asked to keep it. Meanwhile, the cops kept a watch in the mufti. The accused took the bag and left the mobile while running away, the team chased him and caught him. An FIR has been registered against him at Swargate police station.

This action was taken by team comprising Senior Police Inspector Krantikumar Patil, Assistant Police Inspector Vishal Mohite, Sub Inspector Nitin Kamble, and police personnel Mohsin Sheikh, Gajanan Sonune, Kadir Sheikh, Ujjwal Mokashi and Nagnath Rakh.
