Pune: Crime Branch Arrests Tenant Who Threatened To Make Landlord’s Vulgar Video Viral, Demanded Rs 50 Lakh Extortion

Pune, September 4, 2020: A tenant who allegedly demanded Rs 50 lakh from the landlord by threatening to make a video clip viral of his wife and landlord having an affair, has been arrested by the Crime Branch’s anti-extortion cell. The tenant was caught red-handed while accepting extortion money near Pune railway station.

Now an FIR has been registered against the accused tenant with Bundgarden police station. Police said that the landlord lives in Vishrantwadi where he has seven rooms which he has rented out to the tenants. One of the tenant’s wife honey-trapped him.

According to police, last week the woman called the landlord to her house and they had physical relations. After a few days, the woman’s husband contacted the landlord and told him that he has recorded a video of the landlord and his wife’s affair. The tenant started blackmailing the landlord and demanded Rs 50 lakh for not circulating the video clip. After negotiation, the landlord agreed to pay Rs five lakh and he also lodged a complaint with Crime Branch.

When the tenant came to collect Rs five lakh from the landlord as per schedule, the cops nabbed him. Police seized Rs 21,000, a memory card and a mobile phone from him. He has been handed over to Bundgarden police station for further investigation. It was revealed that the accused’s wife was also involved in the crime and the police have started the process of arresting her.

..So he conspired with his wife to commit blackmailing
The tenant’s hotel was in the Vishrantwadi area. However, his hotel was completely shut in the lockdown. On the other hand, rent and other expenses were rising. Against this background, the tenant conspired with his wife to get money. She agreed to seduce the landlord. Her husband made a video of the act and tried to blackmail the landlord to get money from him, police said.

Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ashok Morale, DCP (Crime) Bachchan Singh supervised the police investigation which was done by a team comprising senior police inspector Rajendra Mohite, sub-inspector Nilesh Mahadik, police personnel Ramesh Garud, Sunil Chikhale, Vijay Gurav, Feroz Bagwan and Pradip Gade.
