Pune, 5th January 2024: The sleuths from the Crime Branch of Pune City police have detained eight persons in connection with the murder of the notorious goon, Sharad Mohol. Police suspect the killing to be the fallout of a dispute related to land and money.

Mohol, who has 18 cases of murder, attempted murder, and extortion, was shot dead around 1:20 pm in Sutardara, Kothrud, by his accomplices. An FIR was registered at Kothrud Police Station for offences under sections 302, 307, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code, and other relevant sections of the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act.

According to Crime Branch ACP Sunil Tambe, Pune City Crime Branch deployed nine investigation teams to various locations, including Pune City, Pune Rural, Satara, and Kolhapur. In a dramatic turn of events, eight suspects, three pistols, three magazines, five rounds, and two four-wheelers were apprehended following a high-speed chase involving a Swift car on the Pune-Satara Road, specifically between Kikvi and Shirwal.

He further added, “Preliminary investigations indicate that the motive behind the crime stems from a longstanding land and money dispute involving the suspects and Sharad Mohol.”
